David Parsons at The Joyce Theater

David Parsons’ company opened a mixed bill at the Joyce with one of his masterworks, The Envelope. This is a great piece of entertainment, and highly accessible, but what keeps it from being simply fluff-and-humour is that it is also a great interpretation of Gioacchino Rossini’s music. The choreography, and the interpretation of it by the dancers, exhibit a marvelous musicality.
